Ford Econoline is a seven to eight passenger full-size van with truck chassis, for cargo or passengers
Overview
The Econoline is a full-size commercial cargo or 7-passenger vehicle, upgradeable to 15 passengers. Ford retired the “Econoline” name in 2010, replacing it with the designation “E-Series.” This review will use the names “Econoline” and “E-Series” interchangeably.
The Ford Econoline’s low price, spacious interior, powerful engine, high towing capacity, and optional Ford Work Solutions system make this a strong pick. Some reviewers have criticized the architecture for being outdated and the handling for being awkward, but 30 years of topping the sales charts suggest that these are not high priorities for businesses. The Ford Work Solutions program uses radio-frequency tags to keep track of power tools and truck locations. An in-dash computer provides high-speed Internet access and mobile printing.
The 2012 Ford E-Series Van is available in three trim levels: E-150, E-250, and E-350 Super Duty. The E-150 and E-250 come with a choice of 4.6-liter V8 flex-fuel or 5.4-liter V8 engine. E-350 engine choices include 5.4-liter V8 flex fuel, 5.4-liter V8, or 6.8-liter V10. Standard features on all trims include MP3 player, stability control, and traction control. Optional features include navigation system, Bluetooth, iPod input, satellite radio, and DVD player.
